Of course by studying engineering does not mean that you have to have an engineering job and vie versa. One who has studied engineering could easily apply that to any other discipline. Having a background in engineering can also benefit your hobbies and activities. These concepts you learn will also be applicable to them as well. It could be that the organization you are a part of could use your skills in something specific and it would not cost them much to get general advise from you. Before you apply for an engineering job, make sure your professional resume has been updated and you have a cover letter ready for each position you are applying for. Your resume should include any professional degrees and/or certificates, as well as all professional work experience in your specific type of engineering. Once your resume is catered to the specific job you are applying to with as much information from your professional and academic background, then you are ready to apply to jobs. Keep in mind you will also have to write a cover letter, which should be written specifically for each job you are applying to. Just like any other job, engineering jobs will lead you to different positions you can have with a firm. From your education and in your training in engineering you will receive the knowledge you need to perform the task correctly.
